Position Overview


Seeking a Mechanical Project Manager with deep HVAC and piping experience to lead large-scale commercial and industrial projects. This role requires a technically competent, field-integrated PM who can manage full project lifecycle, drive coordination across trades, and protect project margins.

This is not a GC-only PM role. Candidates must have direct mechanical contractor or HVAC project ownership experience.


Core Responsibilities

Project Execution

  • Manage mechanical construction projects from precon through closeout
  • Oversee HVAC and piping scopes including chilled water, hydronic systems, boilers, AHUs, and RTUs
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules

Coordination & Field Leadership

  • Lead coordination with GC, electrical, plumbing, and other trades
  • Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection (Navisworks preferred)
  • Maintain active presence on job sites to support field teams

Project Controls

  • Manage:
  • Submittals and RFIs
  • Change orders and cost impacts
  • Procurement timelines and equipment tracking
  • Maintain schedules (Primavera P6 or equivalent)
  • Track budgets, labor productivity, and forecast costs

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Interface directly with owners, developers, and general contractors
  • Communicate project updates, delays, and cost impacts
  • Defend and negotiate change orders

Required Qualifications

  • 7–15+ years of mechanical construction experience
  • Background with:
  • Mechanical contractor (strongly preferred)
  • OR GC with heavy HVAC / MEP scope ownership
  • Proven experience managing $5M–$30M+ mechanical scopes
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • HVAC systems and mechanical piping
  • Chilled water and hydronic systems
  • Boilers, AHUs, RTUs
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Scheduling and budgeting
  • Field coordination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Primavera P6
  • BIM / Navisworks coordination experience
  • Design-build project exposure
  • Background as Project Engineer or Field Engineer
